You Have More Options: Orthodontic Technology in Brooklyn With Dr. AlJanabi

Orthodontic Technology in Brooklyn With Dr. AlJanabi

For years, the image of a mouth full of metal comes to mind at the idea of braces. The notion of an oral contraption that does nothing but get in the way while disguising the surface of the tooth behind a shield of stainless steel has put fear into the minds of teens and adults everywhere. The story always starts with that “friend of a friend who had braces” concept and always ends with a terrifying tale of pain and torture.

But alas, these tales are nothing but fables – at least in this day and age. The braces of yesterday are in the past and new technology has emerged to make traditional braces far more comfortable and stylized than they once were. Technology hasn’t stopped there though. There are now numerous options that can be implemented that show little to no signs that your teeth are even being adjusted. Orthodontic technology in Brooklyn has come a long way.

Clarity

Clarity is similar to traditional braces, but instead of applying a steel bracket to the tooth, a ceramic bracket is used. The translucent ceramic bracket has a lower and more comfortable profile and is matched to the teeth to reduce visibility. Patients find Clarity braces to be far more comfortable throughout wear and during the debonding visit.

Invisalign

When people mention alternatives to traditional braces, Invisalign is often the first name they will mention. Invisalign is a series of clear aligners that are custom-fitted to your teeth to gradually alter the position of your teeth. Every two weeks, you’ll switch to a new aligner. The aligners are made of a medical-grade BPA-free thermoplastic that is durable, while the clear color makes them virtually invisible. Best of all, Invisalign can be removed during meals and while you brush and floss your teeth so there is no metal or other obstructions getting in the way. However, aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day.

ClearCorrect

ClearCorrect is another clear aligner option. Patients will receive a new aligner from Dr. Mohamed AlJanabi every 4-6 weeks and must be worn for at least 22 hours per day. Like other clear aligners, ClearCorrect can be removed during brushing, flossing, and eating. The aligners are made of a polyurethane system called Zendura that is extremely rigid and will resist cracking.

Incognito

Incognito braces, also known as lingual braces, are just like traditional braces, except that they bond to the back of the teeth, making them completely invisible to onlookers. The advanced technology is stronger and better than traditional braces. Incognito braces are custom made for each patient, making them more comfortable.

Simpli5

Simpli5 is different clear aligner that is designed to treat small misalignments within 5-6 months. This aligner program is a series of five aligners that are custom-created to adjust each arch as necessary until desired results are achieved.
